The next dog in this series is a puppy. She is AnglicareSA’s Golden Retriever, Spoon. Spoon is in the care of AnglicareSA’s Leaving Care Supervisor, Rinske van der Pol. She comes to work with Rinske to help young people aged 16 to 18 years old as they transition out of the care system to independent living. This is a huge change in young people’s lives as they leave residential care where support is available 24/7 to live independently. Without a community, established friends and animals around them, they can feel lonely or isolated. This is where Spoon steps, or rather, bounds, in. She enhances Anglicare’s support by motivating young people to leave the house and try new things, meet new people and improve their mental health.
